Here Comes My Girl
- Well, I like to laugh at myself alot. Keeps you grounded. The
Heartbreakers need an opening act once The Wallflowers leave the tour. Here's my
audition tape! This is a first take, complete with dogs barking (my dog Rickenbacker in
particular) and many mistakes. It was never intended to be an exact copy of the song.
If you want to download it, click on the link below. It's a 2 meg Windows Media file.

"Here Comes My Girl" (Click here)
"The Wild One, Forever" (Click here) NEW
It sounds better the more you drink!
Oh yeah, in other TP news, Tom will be presenting Stevie Nicks with an award at the Blockbuster
Entertainment awards tomorrow night.

News (New) To Me!
- Look what I found! Howie played in a band from Milwaukee called
The Craze in 1976-1977. As I was surfing the net I came across some old pictures. I
found five pictures of the band from that era. I thought you would enjoy them. I've
never seen them, have you? From left to right: Scott Krueger, Breck Burns, Howie Epstein,
and Jim Richardson.

Tom Petty Is NOT Dead!
- If you received the Artist Direct email with the news heading
"Petty - Fight Over Death", this is what they were referring too. If you haven't seen the "Tom Petty Is Dead" site,
don't freak out. It was all done as a JOKE!!! READ this:
In the fall of 1996, Bruce Ketcham and Jesse Lavery were sitting in their dorm room discussing
the Beatles. They had just been "surfing the net" and found a site about the theory that
Paul McCartney is dead. They both thought that it was hilarious. Not only did they find
it hilarious, they actually were quite impressed at the use of lyrics and album covers to
prove that Paul was deceased. Bruce thought that the same sort of logic and bastardization
of facts could be used to prove that anyone was dead. Being a big Tom Petty fan,
he suggested that Tom Petty was dead. The two erupted in laughter. Jesse wet himself.
From there the whole theory snowballed into what you see now. So, although Jesse
did the work in compiling the lyrics and writing the comments, none of it would have been
possible without that first bit of inspired insanity from Bruce.
Here's the story from muchmusic.com:
Tom Petty is not dead and his fans won't back down until they prove it.
A website has been set up called
"Tom Petty Is Dead" (click here), which claims that the singer died in the late 70s
and was replaced by an imposter. The site says that lyrics and album covers from
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers also reveal hints of Petty's death. Fans who believe
in their hero have launched their own site called
"Tom Petty Is Not Dead" (click here). As for “Tom Petty”, he's getting set to tour the U.S.
next month.
Speaking of the tour. More tickets go on sale today at 11AM Pacific Time. Come back
and click on the banner ad on the gonegator.com main page.
