Cover Of American Girl On Sugar & Spice Soundtrack
- Cindy Alexander has recorded a cover of American Girl
due out January 23rd. It is going to be the first single from the soundrack to Sugar & Spice (New
Line Cinema cheerleader movie). But, through the magic of the Internet (I love that line), you can hear Cindy's
version, if you listen real hard, in the trailer for Sugar & Spice. Here are some links to see/hear the
trailer:

Enjoy!

More Washington D.C. News
- Benmont & Howie did not attend the Gore shindig. Most of the pictures can be found at most all
Newspaper sites (The pictures right were taken by an unidentified guest, copyrighted by The Daily News and distributed by
the associated press) and some
radio station sites (click here). As for the Special Olympics Show, I've heard that Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
performed "Christmas All Over Again" and a new Christmas rendition of "Little Red Rooster". I was told that Tom creatively manipulated
the lyrics of the old blues classic into the next new Christmas classic. Stevie Nicks also
performed "Silent Night" with Tom and the band.

Psst! Let's roll another one.

Even The Losers (Get Lucky Sometimes!)
- (From Billboard) Instead of retreating for private time after announcing his
concession of the U.S. presidential election to George W. Bush on Wednesday night,
Vice President Al Gore raised his spirits by rocking out to an hour-long set from Tom
Petty and his bandmates at Gore's Washington, D.C., residence. The band did play "I Won't Back Down"
for Gore. According to Petty's
publicist, the artist was joined by Jon Bon Jovi, Blues Traveler's John Popper, and
Stevie Wonder on various songs, while Gore's wife Tipper played "percussion."
Petty is in Washington to tape "A Very Special Christmas From Washington, D.C."
at the White House. The special, which will air Dec. 19 on cable network TNT, is in
conjunction with the "A Very Special Christmas" benefit album series, which have
raised some $65 million for Special Olympics.

Christmas Show Update!
- Ok, I had the wrong show information. The Very Special Christmas show will
be December 14th. Rumor has it that the band will only be performing two songs. They rehearsed
yesterday and again today. I'm trying to find out what two songs they have been rehearsing! The album
cover pictured here is the album Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers performed "Christmas All Over Again "
in 1992. Last year's show from Washington was released on a CD. Hopefully this show
will be recorded and released. Don't miss the show on TV Dec. 19th (Other dates and times listed below!)
It Was 20 Years Ago Today
- I know this has got nothing to do with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, but
I just wanted to say that it has been 20 years since John Lennon was killed and I miss him. I was
14 years old when this happened. I knew who he was then, but I didn't have near the appreciation
I have for John now! Thanks for the music John.

Tip Tom! (Not That He Needs It!)
- I don't know if any of you download music off of Napster or other services, but
if you do, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers do not get paid! Fairtunes is an Internet service that allows
digital music consumers to voluntarily send money to artists for their work.

A Very Special Christmas In Washington DC
Ok, A little bird JUST told me that the actual show will be happening in DC on December
12th (Cathy @ TP.com says the 14th. You can't just walk on the White House lawn, so don't miss the TV show!).
The show will air on TNT (Turner Network Television) on the 19th. See "Heartbreakers On TV"
below for times!
What Are You Doin' In My Life?
- Ok, guess I'll make this a monthly thing. I always loved "What Are You Doin'
In My Life" from Damn The Torpedoes. I liked it even more after my stalker experience.
I've always wondered who that song was about. I'm sure Tom has a ton of stalker stories. Some of Tom's stories
may include some of you. Most who answered the poll last month are fans. But, 26% of you should
be expecting a knock on the door any day now! If you have any
ideas for polls, send me an email!
How much do you like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers? Are you a fan, fanatic or do we need to
send the men with the white coats to pick you up?
