The story goes like this:
My friends and I were sitting down in our seats waiting for Jackson
Browne to take the stage. We were sitting there just talking, ect. Then I
looked up and walking through the eisles looked like Ron Blair. I would have
bet my life on it, but no one was stopping him or talking to him. So, I
shouted out, " Hey Ron" just to see if it was him. He turned around and
waved his hands. I shouted back at him "It's great to have you back." He
again waved, and said "Thank You."
I was excited just because I met one of the Heartbreakers. My friends
urged me to go and talk to him, so I did. I ran after him right before he
was going to go into the "backstage" area. I shook his hand, and again told
him "it was great to have you back." I asked him nervously if there was
anything he could do, maybe hook me up with a "backstage pass." He told me,
"I'll see what I can do, just keep checking back here with the security man."
So I walked back to my seat very excited and nervous. I was too
scared to go back and ask the security man if he had anything for me, and to
be rejected. So, I asked my girlfriend to keep going back to check, to if if
Ron had been able to get something for me. My girlfriend, Rebecca, went back
about two or three times, coming back with nothing. She returned one more
time, with a dissapointed look on her face, and I figured again, "nothing."
Then she pulled out a torn off tour program, and handed it to me. It had the
signatures of Mike Campell and Ron Blair. I was blown away, though it wasn't
a backstage pass (which I wasn't really thinking I would be able to get).
Being an 18 year old and spotting out Ron Blair, the original bassist for the
Heartbreakers., who left the band before I was even born, and then getting
his autograph, and the autograph of Mike Campell. Unbelievable.
After it all sank in, and I realized what had happened. I stood up
and screamed to the other members of the audience, "I JUST GOT MIKE CAMPELL
AND RON BLAIR'S AUTOGRAPH."
Unbelievable.
